A police officer was yesterday shot dead by his colleague in a village in Turkana County.
The officers had responded to a distress call on a man who had attacked a village mate in a quarrel using a knife and killed him.
It was in the process as the officers tried to disarm the man who was armed with a knife that one of the officers discharged his gun accidentally hitting his colleague in the chest.
A second police officer was shot and injured in the leg. The villager who had attacked and killed his friend was later arrested.
The deceased officer was identified as constable Hosea Kipchumba.
