ODM Woes: Jimmy Wanjigi Stoned In Migori

Jimmy Wanjigi’s planned gathering in Migori today was canceled after participants accused him of dismissing ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.

Wanjigi, an ODM delegate, had scheduled to meet with the Party’s delegates at the Maranatha Faith Assemblies Church in Migori Town, but before he could get there, a part of the delegates threatened not to let him speak to them.

Youths in Migori County began throwing chairs at ODM officials as they protested the gathering.

Other anti-Wanjigi youngsters stormed the event, armed with stones, and began beating up a group of delegates thought to be pro-Wanjigi.

During the brawl, the hall’s windows, chairs, and other property were broken.

During the commotion, which lasted until Friday afternoon, a few people were hurt. To restore order, police used tear gas.

Wanjigi had held two successful sessions in Kisumu and Homa Bay counties until Friday morning.

On September 15, the presidential candidate landed in Nyanza to publicize his campaign.

Philip Makabong’o, the ODM chairperson for Migori County and the Secretary of ODM’s Nyanza county chairpersons, said he was unaware of Wanjigi’s planned meeting.
