Four Perish In Grisly Narok-Mai Mahiu Accident

Four people were reported dead and three others suffered serious injuries after a vehicle they were traveling in was engaged in a road accident along the Narok-Mai Mahiu road.

The four-vehicle accident happened at 7 p.m. at Maltauro, about 40 kilometers from Narok town.

The tragedy occurred as a trailer driving downhill lost control and collided head-on with an oncoming lorry before exploding into flames.

The trailer carrying tea leaves was on its way to Nairobi while the lorry was on its way to Narok.

A pickup truck and a Toyota Axio were among the other vehicles involved in the collision.

“The trailer’s driver apparently lost control after hitting bumps before colliding a lorry, causing it to spin and catch fire seconds later,” a witness added.

It took additional time for the police and members of the public to separate the damaged vehicles from the trailer and reach the mangled bodies.

Police officers have launched investigations into the cause of the accident.
