As part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 agenda, Makueni has collaborated with Habitat for Humanity-Kenya to create an enabling environment for cheap housing to settle poor Makueni residents in inadequately designed townships.
The partnership aims to promote efforts to implement Settlement-Based Practices, such as low-income housing development, WASH, and social infrastructure.
Makueni County’s goals include improving access to land and ensuring tenure stability.

This will include the digitization and digitalization of land records.
Support and facilitate skills training, certification, and linkages to jobs and business development opportunities for young people and women in order to help them find work and make money.
Upskill, certify, and connect construction personnel to the market to support the incremental housing process.
Identify and strengthen financial institutions that support low-income people with housing and agricultural financing (MFIs, SACCOs, and farmer cooperatives).
