Inua Jamii: Needy Families Get Ksh8.9 Billion

More than one million participants of the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer program are expected to receive Sh 8.9 billion from the government to help them cope with the current economic downturn. 

Margaret Kobia, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Special Programs, says the funds would be deposited to the accounts of officially registered beneficiaries starting Monday. 

Each of the beneficiaries would receive Sh 8,000 as payment for the months of March, April, May, and June 2022, according to Kobia. 

Those registered in the NICHE program would also earn an additional amount of up to Sh4,000 per household, according to the announcement.

Inua Jamii is Kenya’s National Safety Net Program for the beneficiaries of, Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC), Older Persons Cash Transfer (OPCT), Persons with Severe Disabilities Cash Transfer (PWSD-CT) as well as Hunger Safety Net Programme (HSNP).
