Benson Gethi Wangui and Joyce Makena have been found guilty of forging a false tax compliance certificate purporting it to be genuine.
Three other IEBC officials will spend night in custody pending Sentencing tomorrow 1st March 2022.Â
The IEBC officials includes; Kennedy Guanye Ochae, Gabriel Ngonyo Mutunga and Willie Gachanja Kamanga.
The three are said to have altered substance of a tender submitted by M/S Solarmak Technologies Ltd between 22nd and 23rd November 2012.
The said tender was for the supply of solar lanterns for the march 2013 General Elections.
It was by the fraudulent interference by the three convicted IEBC officers that led to the award of the tender to Solarmak Technologies Ltd although it was unqualified for the tender.
All the convicts were arrested and apprehended in Court on 7th November 2013.
The case has been active in Court for over ten years until today when justice appeared to have attained its flowering stage.
“I have no doubt that the sixth and seventh accused persons participated in the offense by providing a false document to IEBC.The crime was committed for the direct benefit of the company. This court therefore convicts them accordingly “ ruled the Court.
