Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have launched a manhunt for a key suspect in the heinous sexual harassment video.
Undercover officers from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and DCI Nairobi Regional Headquarters zeroed in on the suspect, Zachariah Nyaora Obadia.
The sleuths, working with cybercrime experts at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory, used digital forensics to scientifically put the bandit at the scene of the crime and went after him deep in Mukuru Kayaba slums.
“However, the suspect, who is aware of the continuing crackdown on wayward boda boda riders, eluded our dragnet by a hair’s breadth, escaping down a sewage tunnel in the heavily populated town.” the DCI said.
The perpetrator, who is sexually abusing the victim in the widely circulated footage, was outed by his wife and other relatives.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is warning Zacharia Nyaora Obadia not to play cat and mouse with detectives and instead to surrender at DCI headquarters or the local Police station within 24 hours.” the DCI Tweeted.
Similarly, his accomplices who were in the proximity of the brutal act, whether or not recorded on tape, have all been identified forensically. They are thus commanded to report to DCI headquarters before the investigators catch up with them.
