Kenyan Startup Bags Millions In Global Pitch Competition

Money254, a Kenyan startup, has been declared the grand prize winner of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) FinTech Conference’s 2022 FinTech Startup Pitch Competition.

Money254 organizes and assesses financial goods from financial institutions in order to assist customers in comparing and applying for the best financial solutions for them.

It was picked as one of eight finalists from a list of over 100 fintech firms worldwide, all of which presented their final pitch at the MIT FinTech Conference in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The conference concluded with the FinTech Startup Pitch Competition award ceremony, with Money254 being chosen the winner and receiving the big prize of $30,000.

Lorcan O Cathain, CEO and Co-Founder of Money254, noted that the award was a boost to the startup’s goal of improving transparency in the financial services market.

“At Money254 we’re building a central place for Kenyans to learn about, manage and move their money between the financial institutions and products that make the most sense for them. We’re deeply humbled to receive this honour and excited for what the future holds for the company.”
