160 Kenyan employees are allegedly being held against their will by Africa Star Railway Operation Company Limited (Afristar) in the name of COVID-19 quarantine.

According to an insider who disclosed their ordeal to Uzalendo News, the employees were called back to work for an indefinite period of time in October 2021.

This was after being given a leave of absence for mandatory vaccination due to the worsening of COVID-19.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Humanity Activism Knowledge Integrity (HAKI AFRICA), the employees have been locked up for two years now without access to the outside world.

However, their Chinese counterparts have been going home as usual.

“There is a lot of discrimination in terms of treatment, Chinese are cooked special food and have special privileges over Kenyans.

There are no separate blocks for ladies and gents, they live in the same block.”

According to the statement, Kenya Railways which is the mother company is fully aware of this situation but they are doing nothing about it.

Further, the statement stated that only one specific department (Locomotive) has been locked up because they work closely with the Chinese.
