The Paul Muite-led Safina party is set to endorse billionaire Jimi Wanjigi as the party’s presidential flag bearer.
The party claimed in a statement that “Presidential candidate, His Excellency Jimi Wanjigi, will launch his Presidential Campaign during the ceremony.”
Wanjigi will use the forum to express his vision and hope for Kenya, as well as the techniques he plans to utilize to repair the economy and give the country a fresh start, according to the party.
Wanjigi joined the Safina party after a tumultuous split with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), which expelled him after he pledged to fight ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency.
Despite the fact that Wanjigi is a relative newbie to electoral politics, he has pledged to run against Odinga in the August 9 election.
Odinga, who is running under the Azimio La Umoja initiative, which includes more than 30 political parties, and Deputy President William Ruto, who is running under the Kenya Kwanza alliance, which includes Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) and Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya, are the front runners in this election.
Following his expulsion from the Orange Democratic Movement, Wanjigi joined the Safina party on March 9. (ODM)
The Safina Party National Delegates Convention is anticipated to attract at least 2,000 delegates on Monday.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Bomas of Kenya Baraza Hall.
