Mung’aro Chides Raila ‘Enemies’ In Coast

The decision by President Uhuru Kenyatta to endorse Raila Odinga as Azimio Presidential candidate has continued to receive different opinions.

In Kilifi County, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have dismissed critics who are against the endorsement of Raila Odinga by President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Presidential candidate for Azimio la Umoja Movement.

Led by former Devolution CAS Gideon Mung’aro and Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo the leaders said Uhuru had every right as a Kenyan Citizen to openly endorse Raila as his candidate of choice.

They vowed to support Raila as the presidential flag bearer for Azimio la Umoja to become the fifth president of Kenya.

They spoke during the launch of Mung’aro’s gubernatorial campaigns ahead of nominations at his home turf Watamu attended by hundreds of supporters together with aspirants vying for MCA, parliamentary, and woman rep positions.

The former CAS said for the last 60 years Kenya has been ruled by two communities and this time it’s time for Raila to be president so as to set the pace for other communities to be presidents.

“This will only be possible if we begin changing each community of Kenya to rule this country and for a president of the Republic of Kenya to come from any community,” he said.

He dismissed those leaders who claim the president has no right to give Kenyans direction on who to vote for as their next head of state.

Mung’aro who is eying for the Kilifi county Gubernatorial seat said Uhuru was Kenyan and is allowed to support any presidential candidate of his choice.

He also asked for the Kilifi county ODM members to vote for him as the governor candidate in the oncoming nomination exercise set for next month.

“Do not worry about it just stand firm during the nomination because all those aspirants in ODM will beat them at 6 o’clock in the morning so that you can prepare to elect me as governor on August 9 to show the previous regime that what they did for 10 years can be done in three years,” he said.

Madzayo on his part said those who do not want president Kenyatta to support Raila’s presidential bid are wrong because as per the law Uhuru is commander in chief of Kenya but as a person, he has an identity card and voters card like any other Kenyan.

“As a legal expert Kenyatta has a right to support any candidate of his choice to become President of Kenya and now that Uhuru has declared support for Raila we have confidence with him that he will ensure Raila goes to the statehouse,” he said.

The senator also urged Kilifi residents to vote for Mung’aro during the nomination and the August 9 general election as he was the only one able to take the county forward in terms of development.

Also present was Kilifi Woman Rep Gertrude Mbeyu who is aspiring to be Kilifi North Member of Parliament and Amina Mnyazi the Malindi parliamentary hopeful among other aspirants.

All leaders present called on the residents to ensure Mung’aro becomes the next governor of Kilifi by voting for him as he had the best track record of transforming the county.
