The Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, claims that prominent media personality Janet Mbugua has turned down his offer to deputise him in his Kiambu gubernatorial campaign.
Taking to his official Facebook page on Thursday, March 24, Kuria said that Mbugua had emerged top among his preferred running mates.
“I am shattered. After scoring the highest marks in the talent search for Kiambu Deputy Governor, Janet Mbugua will not be taking up the job due to unforeseen personal emergencies that she has to attend to in the immediate term,” he said on Thursday.
However, the former Citizen TV journalist explained why she turned down the offer citing that she was not ready to enter into active politics as the country gears up for the August polls.
In the post on her social media on Thursday, March 24, the Inua Dada founder stated that declining the offer by the Chama Cha Kazi party leader does not mean that she will not help and support Kiambu County.
Mbugua thanked Moses Kuria for preferring her to be his running mate in the Kiambu gubernatorial race but noted that she will be spending her time serving women and girls under her foundation.
“Thanks, @HonMoses_Kuria for considering me capable to serve Kiambu County as Deputy Governor. Indeed, active engagement in politics isn’t for me at the moment. I remain available in support of quality service to the good people of Kiambu & all of Kenya, more so vulnerable women & girls,” Janet Mbugua stated.
