Muturi Move To Join Ruto Stirs Trouble

Three members of the Democratic Party (DP) have written to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to protest their leader’s decision to join the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The trio – Wambugu Nyamu, Daniel Munene, and Kingori Choto – claim that Speaker Justin Muturi’s decision to join Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza alliance is in violation of a resolution passed at the National Delegates Convention (NDC).

The party had allegedly resolved on February 20, 2022, not to join any coalition before the General Election on August 9, 2022.

As a result, they are requesting that Ann Nderitu, the Registrar of the parties, “reject the coalition paperwork pretending to join the Party to KenyKwanza Alliance.”

Muturi joined the Ruto-led alliance on Saturday, resolving months of speculation about his involvement, but three members of the DP Party have accused Muturi of looking out for his own self-interest.

Speaker Muturi, who was once considered a close supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta, is speculated to be running for Vice President in the August elections.
