The Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga is expected to fly to the United States (US) next week, in what is expected to be his final journey overseas before the August 9 general election.
According to sources close to the former Prime Minister, Raila would leave the country on April 21, just hours after the ODM completes its party nomination process.
The ODM party leader has taken a week off from campaigning while his party holds primary elections and is expected to conduct its last nomination in Nairobi on April 21.
Raila will be meeting with top-ranking US government officials, business leaders, religious leaders, and Kenyans living in the United States during his visit to the United States.
Makau Mutua, a spokesperson for Raila’s campaign secretariat, confirmed the travel but did not provide any other information saying that they will communicate about the US trip at a later date.
The trip, which is set to end on April 28, follows a similar tour of the United Kingdom, when he attended talks to outline his plan and vision for the country.
