Scathing attacks between the President and his deputy spilled over to the Labour day, as Uhuru called out his ‘partner’ for deserting him when the country was in crisis.
On Sunday, during the Labour Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium, the President chastised his deputy for criticizing him over rising living costs.
“We need to tell each other the truth. Where are you when I need you? I thank Raila Odinga because despite being in opposition, he came to assist me. That’s the truth. Raila knew what is ailing us. Empty promises will take you nowhere.”
The President claimed that the DP and his allies have been deceiving the public about the true state of the economy.
The rising cost of living, according to Uhuru, is due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Covid resulted in the loss of jobs and had a negative impact on many businesses in the economy.Â
According to Uhuru, the Russia-Ukraine wars caused the cost of fuel to rise, exacerbating the Covid-19 effects.
“It is not Kenyans who brought the Covid 19 pandemic that cost loss of lives and jobs. But even as we try to bring back order and revive the economy, others have begun wars that are completely out of nowhere.”
“Instead of assisting me to find solutions to our problems, you are accusing me and inciting Kenyans in political rallies. Yet you claim to be second in command. Why don’t you leave your position so that I can get someone else to assist me?”
