Boni Khalwale Heckled In Kakamega

Boni Khalwale, a former Kakamega senator, struggled to sell Deputy President William Ruto at a function in Shinyalu, Kakamega county, on Saturday.

After he attempted to woo the crowd into supporting Ruto for president, a section of the audience began heckling him.

As he prepared to campaign for Ruto, the crowd erupted in chants of “Ruto tawe! Ruto tawe!” (Ruto no! Ruto no!)

The Senator was forced to cut his speech short, and the choir stepped in with a song to calm the agitated audience.

Khalwale, who is running for the same senate seat in the August 9 elections, chastised ODM leader Raila Odinga, saying he had failed the region, in his speech.

He said that Raila only gifted his people from Nyanza, completely ignoring the western region.

The unfortunate events comes amid calls from political leaders, and the clergy for tolerance.
