According to a new Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) poll, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential candidate and Deputy President William Ruto remains the most popular presidential candidate ahead of the August 9 General Election.
The survey, which was conducted between April 22 and 26, revealed that DP Ruto is the country’s most preferred presidential aspirant, with 39 percent, closely followed by Azimio Flag bearer Raila Odinga, with 32 percent.
However, when it comes to coalitions, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance topped with 36% compared to Kenya Kwanza’s 33%.
The poll released on Thursday ,May 5, 2022 showed United Democratic Alliance is also the most popular party rising from zero percent in Dec 2020 to the current 34 percent followed by ODM with 19 percent, Jubilee with 4 percent, Wiper with 3 percent while other parties have 1 percent.
The polls also show that 13 percent of Kenyans are still unsure of who to support for the next president or which party to support.
According to the survey, it noted that support for the two alliance coalitions is quite evenly split across the country, aside from Central Rift where Kenya Kwanza clearly dominates and in Nyanza where Azimio is dominating.
“While nearly all ODM supporters also support the Azimio coalition (94%), only about three-quarters of UDA supporters support Kenya Kwanza (79%),” it said.
