AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho intends to use Ghanaian teenager Felix Afena-Gyan as bait in order to sign a midfielder he has long liked and wants to sign this summer.
Mourinho wants to sign Morten Due Hjulmand from Lecce in the United States for the 2022/2023 season.
AC Milan are also interested in signing the 22-year-old Danish midfielder. The contract of Hjulmand is set to end in 2024.
To beat Milan to Hjulmand, Roma will offer Afena-Gyan to the Serie B club.
The young Ghanaian striker could do well in Lecce who are just a game away from securing promotion to the Serie A next season.
Afena-Gyan would entice the Apulian club for an exchange that would give Mourinho his new midfielder.
