The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya team has struck the ground running in popularizing its August bid.
Mr. Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua led his troop on a campaign run in Nakuru Country just hours after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) handed them their approval.
While oozing confidence that he is the clear favorite to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in August, the Azimio leader dismissed his rivals’ chances of winning, referring to them as “donkeys in a horse race.”
Ms. Karua, for her part, stated that her administration, in collaboration with Mr. Odinga, will root out corruption and failed systems that have plagued the country as a result of weak leadership.
“If this country is led by someone mature, someone who has battled for the people’s freedom throughout his career, the fight on poor healthcare, youth unemployment, and famine will be doable,” she remarked.
On Sunday mid-morning, Mr. Odinga and Ms. Karua received a certificate after presenting their credentials to the IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati, at the Bomas of Kenya.
