Police have finally recaptured the two Robbery with violence escapees from Thika Cells.Â
Two robbery with violence suspects who had escaped from Thika Police Station on May 12, 2022 have been apprehended by police officers.
The two are among eight remandees who escaped from Thika Police Cells on the night of May 12, 2022, after attacking the Station’s security personnel.
Kiambu Police Commander Muchangi Kioi confirmed the arrest of the two, reaffirming that they have been returned back to custody.
The Police boss however,declined revealing the exact location of the re-arrest as a manhunt is still ongoing for the remaining six escapees.
The eight remandees identified as Livingstone Njau, Francis Matheri, Allan Mugai, Charles Mitaru, John Murege, Eric Ngigi, Arthur Kayemba and Bunton Mbugua were held in the station pending court arraignment.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in a statement after the escape, said that one of the remandees pretended to have a bowel infection and needed an urgent visit to the washrooms.
The rest pleaded with the guard to accompany their “unwell colleague”.
Unaware of the scheme hatched by the remandees, the officer opened the door and immediately the suspects struggled him and took away the keys to the main door.
