Ex-Convict Pardoned On Madaraka Day Hacks Mother To Death

Police have launched a manhunt for a former convict who allegedly hacked his mother to death on Sunday, June 12, 2022, in Kirinyaga.

Daniel Kitavi, the police chief of Mwea East Sub-County, confirmed the incident in Njoga village.

Kitavi stated that the deceased, Grace Muthoni, had deep cuts on her head. He revealed that the suspect was involved in a land dispute with the mother.

According to the police chief, the ex-convict had been arguing with his mother over a share of the family land.

“We suspect the man eliminated the old woman after she refused to meet his demand,” said Mr. Kitavi.

However, Mr Kitavi said that investigations had begun to determine why the suspect committed such a terrible crime.

The assailant was among 3,908 petty offenders pardoned by President Uhuru Kenyatta during Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1.
