Coast Leaders Push For Six-Piece Azimio Vote

Azimio leaders in Kilifi have continued to drum up support for Azimio Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga, saying that he is the only leader who will steer this county to the top of economic growth in the region.

The leaders led by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Kilifi gubernatorial candidate Gideon Mung’aro, current Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi, MPs Ken Chonga, Gertrude Mbeyu and Magarini MP Aspirant Harry Kombe said the only way to make sure that the leadership of this country transits to other regions is addressed.

“Since independence, the Presidency has been juggling Central Kenya and in Rift Valley. But now it’s time that this leadership gets its nod in other regions. It is for this reason that Mr Odinga now takes over,” said Mr Mung’aro.

He further said that with Mr Odinga’s Presidency the button will have been ignited for other regions to enjoy the same in the coming years.

“We are calling on Kenyans and the people of Kilifi in generally to elect Mr Odinga as the fifth President of this country so that he opens doors for other regions to also produce Presidents in future. Who knows maybe the next President might come from Jilore ward,” said Mr Mung’aro.

He further said that with Mr Odinga’s healthcare program dubbed ‘Baba Care’ in implementation, many healthcare challenges Kenyans go through in their day-to-day lives will be addressed.

“That is why we are calling for six-piece voting from Mr Odinga as the President and all the way to the MCAs under the ODM party in Kilifi. Mr Mung’aro who is the leader of the Kilifi Azimio brigade is currently traversing the entire Kilifi county in seeking votes for Mr Odinga, for his gubernatorial seat and pushing for the election of all other political positions through the ODM political party.

He spoke in Jilore, Sabaki and Malindi town wards in Malindi Constituency in a series of public consultative meetings with the electorate.

In Vipingo, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga also drummed up support for Mr Odinga’s presidency saying it will end the challenges Kenyans have undergone since independence.

“The only leader who understands the challenges of Kenyans. The only leader who understands the challenges of Kenyans and the people of Kilifi included is Mr Odinga.

Furthermore, even if you look at his manifesto, he has well-articulated how he will address the plight of young mothers and widows not forgetting the social protection program which will see Kenyans receive Sh6,000 every month,” he said at Junju ward in his constituency.

Mr Chonga said Mr Odinga had fought hard for liberation in this country, fought tooth and nail for the betterment of the Kilifi people and that voting for him is the only option the region has for Mr Odinga.

Mr Saburi who is currently in the Raila Odinga Presidential campaign team said Kilifi stands a better chance of developing by voting for Mr Odinga. He told Sabaki residents that the time was ripe for Mr Odinga to take the mantle from President Uhuru Kenyatta and open up the region in terms of social and economic development.

” In the previous elections, Mr Odinga faced challenges including his win being stolen. It has happened in several elections but now it is his time. As we speak one leg of Mr Odinga is already in the statehouse and it is upon us to vote for him in August so that he wins for Kenya to realise its development goals,” said Mr Saburi.

Kilifi County Woman Rep Gertrude Mbeyu said this was the opportune time for Mr Odinga to win the presidency and open the doors of opportunities for Kenyans and the people of Kilifi at large.

“The only leader who can help us to move forward is Mr Odinga so don’t be blindfolded and go for another person. Just remember the six-piece voting that will make Me Odinga the President of this country. He has done a lot of things for this country,” said Ms Mbeyu.

Mr Kombe also said voting for Mr Odinga means voting for change in Kenyan leadership and that every Kilifian must come out and vote overwhelming for Mr Odinga.

“The first reason why we must vote for Mr Odinga is that he has promised to address the land issue at the Coast region within 100 days in office. That is clearly defined by his move to appoint Mombasa governor Hassan Joho as lands CS when he gets into office as the President. We all know that Kilifi has faced a number of challenges as far as land matters are concerned and with one of our own at the helm, this problem will come to an end,” said Mr Kombe.

Mr Kombe said Mr Odinga’s promise of getting back all grabbed land and giving it back to the squatters is something they have waited for many years.

“Mr Odinga has promised to recover all grabbed land from absentee landlords and give it back to the community. Now, this is the kind of leaders we want,” he said.
