Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja appeared at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in connection with an ongoing investigation into his Ugandan degree.
The DCI had already summoned him today for questioning about forgery allegations, and he was also expected to provide proof of his degree to the Commission for University Education (CUE).
Sakaja stated that he graduated from Team University in Uganda with a Bachelor of Science in Management (External).
Noordin Haji, the Director of Public Prosecutions, had directed police to investigate the allegations and others.
He was asked to show his Team University application letter, admission letter, and school fee payment records.
He is also required to provide a clearance letter from the Speaker of the Senate demonstrating that he was permitted to travel to Uganda for studies or other activities.
The DPP requested that the police investigate allegations and complaints about aspirants’ academic credentials on social and mainstream media.
At the same time, the DPP directed police to investigate any government agencies that may have been involved in the fraudulent clearance of aspirants who lacked the necessary documents, potentially involving staff from the IEBC and the CUE.
