Borussia Dortmund is overconfident in signing Sebastian Haller despite Ajax rejecting their opening bid of €33 million-plus add-ons.
Last season, the Ivory Coast international thrived for the Eredivisie club, scoring 34 goals across all competitions.
While his first six months with Ajax did not go as planned, few will argue that Sebastian Haller finished the 2021/22 season as one of the world’s most prolific strikers.
The 27-year-old finished the season with 34 goals and 9 assists in all competitions, including 11 goals in just eight Champions League appearances.
Furthermore, Haller scored 21 goals in the Dutch top flight as Ajax won the Eredivisie for the second time.
However, this, in conjunction with the fact that Borussia Dortmund has sold The Bundesliga giants made a bid for Ivory Coast forward Erling Haaland earlier this week.
While Ajax turned down the initial €33 million-plus add-ons offer, Fabrizio Romano reports that Dortmund is confident of completing a deal.
According to the transfer expert, the two parties are still negotiating, and Dortmund has made a higher bid, which has convinced Ajax to sell.
Not only that, but Romano has revealed that personal terms are not an issue because Haller is eager to return to the Bundesliga, having previously played for Eintracht Frankfurt before joining West Ham.
