Kenya Railways has declared that the use of non-rail apparatus such as airplanes and drones on railway lines and reserves is prohibited.
The management denounced the crime in a statement, noting that the lines are specifically designed for train operations.
“We reiterate that it is illegal to engage in any kind of activities or transact any kind of business on the railway lines or reserves throughout the country.”
“Further, railway lines and reserves are solely reserved for railways opertaions and are out of bounds to unauthorised members of the public,” read part of the statement.
According to Section 66 of the Kenya Railways Act (Cap 397), any person who unlawfully does any act to obstruct the functioning of a railway… or interferes with any train is guilty of an offence and punishable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years.
