Riyad Mahrez’s contract at Manchester City has been officially renewed. The Algerian’s contract was slated to end next summer, but his new deal will last until June 2025.
Mahrez was generally expected to sign a new contract with City, who needed to keep the wingers they had after Raheem Sterling left for Chelsea.
Last season, the winger was in such good form that the club offered him a new contract. The Algeria international scored 33 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions, a remarkable return given that many of those games came from the bench.
Following the announcement, Mahrez told Man City’s official website, “I’m very thrilled to sign the new agreement.”
“I have enjoyed every single minute of my time here. It’s a pleasure to be part of such an incredible Club.
“I would also like to thank Pep, Txiki and the coaching staff, both for the way they have helped me to develop as a player and for pushing me to continue to improve.” he said
