Kamba clans have threatened to curse leaders alleging that Governor-aspirant Nzioka Waita is not a Kamba.

10 Kamba elders said they will call an extraordinary Kamba clan meeting and pronounce a curse on leaders spreading falsehoods and hate speech against the community.

“We will invoke the dreaded Kithitu on those claiming Waita is not a Kamba. Then you will see for yourselves”, Daniel Maluu, the Chairman of the Aini Clan said.

Maluu said Nzioka’s father, the late Raphael Waita was the Chairman of the clan in Machakos and his son cannot be anything else.

He asked UDA chairman Johnson Muthama, and rivals who are contesting for the seat to desist from ’harming his nephew’.

“Senator Muthama is from the Aini clan. He was here during the burial of the senior Waita. Let him warm those harming his nephew to stop forthwith”, he said.

Every Kamba belongs to a clan. The clan is the first point of call in dispute resolution and community celebration rituals such as weddings.

Maluu was speaking at Waita’s Mwanyani home during a blessing ceremony for the former Uhuru Chief of Staff.
