Mwangi Wa Iria Joins Raila’s Azimio Camp

Usawa Kwa Wote party leader Mwangi Wa Iria has joined the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance and will support former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, July 19, the Murang’a governor revealed that he discussed his manifesto with Raila, who agreed to consider it.

In particular, he stated that if Azimio forms the next government, Raila has agreed to implement his one home, one cow program.

“I told Raila that if we combined his Ksh6,000 pledge and my cow programme then we will take Kenyan families above the poverty line. I told him that those have to be in our joint manifesto and we did a deal. He stated that will happen. Through that joined manifesto, Usawa Kwa Wote will support the candidature of Raila. My supporters will now rally behind Raila Odinga,” he stated.

He also added that Azimio was his only option, claiming that other camps had teamed up against his presidency.

“It has reached a level where people think that they are the Kings of Murang’a. I am the de facto leader of Muranga and I have been their leader for 10 years dealing with their problems every day and that is why they have been voting for me,” he added.

The governor, who is serving his second and final term, announced his presidential bid last year before being disqualified by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
