Police in Kisumu are holding five members of a suspected notorious criminal gang responsible for a series of robberies in the lake side city.
In a CCTV footage released by police, the gang members numbering five broke into an electronics shop in Riat area of Kisumu West sub county and made away with property worth over 500,000.
Kisumu Central subcounty police commander Anthony Maina said the suspects raided an electronic shop at Riat in Kisumu West subcounty on July 6, 2022.
He says since then a team of DCI officers who reviewed the footage were on the trail of the five leading to their arrest this week.
He says police pounced on them in various locations namely Kondele roundabout, Koyango, Molem, Kayengo and Manyatta Arabs.
Maina says the suspects identified as Alex Amena alias spanner boy, Hassan Hussein, Dennis Odhiambo alias Deno, Hillary Odero alias Konza, Eugene Akello alias Yujo are suspected to be a member of a gang terrorising locals using motorbikes.
Maina says they are also still on the trail of four other members of the gang who are still at large, the suspects are being held at KOGONY police station.
