Kenya Records 50 Infections, As POsitivity Rate Hits 3.2%

The Ministry of Health has announced that 50 people, out of a sample size of 1,583, tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours; translating to a 3.2% positivity rate.

Total confirmed cases are now at 337,550 with 3,818,074 tests having been conducted so far.

The cases were distributed across various counties as follows: Nairobi (16), Uasin Gishu (6), Siaya (5), Kiambu (4), Busia (2), Homa Bay (2), Taita Taveta (2), Kirinyaga, Makueni and Mombasa 1 case each.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 106 patients have however recovered from the disease; all from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program.

Total recoveries now stand at 331,234; of which 277,699 are from the Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,433 are from health facilities.

No fatalities were recorded in the period under review, as such the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,672.

“There are 55 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 589 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 3 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support,” said CS Kagwe said in a statement to newsrooms.

“Another 13 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).”
