Noordin Haji, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), has ordered the arrest of Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa in connection with the alleged murder of his opponent’s bodyguard.
In a statement issued by the prosecution boss, DPP Haji directed that Barasa record his statement and that the file be forwarded to his office.
“DPP Noordin Haji has directed that Hon. Didmus Barasa be apprehended, a statement be recorded, and the relevant file be made available to his office for appropriate action,” read the statement.
“According to Bungoma police, the MP is still at large and his phone is turned off.”
This comes after Barasa was accused on Tuesday of murdering his opponent Brian Khaemba’s aide.
Mr. Khaemba, who was running against Barasa for the Kimilili MP seat on a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket, reportedly went to the Chebukwabi polling station around 6 p.m. to watch the votes be counted.
