Hustler Lawyers Are Ready — Nelson Havi Tells Raila

At the Supreme Court, we are prepared. In fact, we will rely on their own IEBC quorum arguments - Nelson Havi

Nelson Havi has told the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition that if they file a presidential petition in the Supreme Court, they will be ready.

Havi, who ran but lost in the Westlands MP race on a UDA ticket to Tim Wanyonyi of the ODM, dismissed the possibility of a lawsuit.

“At the Supreme Court, we are prepared. In fact, we will rely on their own IEBC quorum arguments as well as the Court’s decision in the BBI case “said Havi

The Azimio team has not explicitly stated that they will go to court, but it has been assumed that they will.

Raila Odinga, the coalition’s presidential candidate, was defeated in the August 9 election by his longtime rival, Deputy President William Ruto.

Ruto was declared President-elect by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati on Monday after receiving 7,176,141 votes (50.49 percent) to Raila’s 6,942,930 votes (48.85 percent).

However, shortly before Chebukati’s announcement, four IEBC commissioners questioned the credibility of the poll results, claiming that the final process of verifying them was opaque.

“We made certain that we improved the standards, and we can say with certainty that as commissioners, we did a good job.”

“But some things need to be put out there as you can see the four of us are here and not at Bomas where the results are going to be announced because of the opaque nature of how this phase has been handled,” IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera said.

She was flanked by fellow commissioners Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyangaya at the hurriedly assembled press conference at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi.

The commissioners asked Kenyans to remain peaceful and advised the aggrieved parties to pursue legal channels in seeking justice.
