Supreme Court dismisses Kuria, Ruto Petitions

The Supreme Court also denied Agano party leader David Mwaure's request to have the case stayed.

The Supreme Court has denied three applications, including one from President-elect William Ruto to prevent the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) from being enjoined in the 2022 election petition.

The court also dismissed the petition filed by former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and former Mbeere South MP Geoffrey King’ang’i, who urged the apex court to dismiss Mr. Odinga’s suit on the grounds that he was involved in election malpractices.

The Supreme Court also denied Agano party leader David Mwaure’s request to have the case stayed.

The application to exclude individual Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners from the petition was also rejected.

The court also granted John Walubengo’s, Dr. Joseph Sevilla’s, and Martin Mirero’s request to be joined as amici curiae in the petition.

The application to admit the replying affidavits of Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyangaya, Francis Wanderi, and Irene Masit was also granted.
