Azimio Fronts Kenneth Marende For Speaker

Mr. Marende was initially touted as a possible Senate speaker candidate, with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka mentioned as a possible National Assembly candidate.

Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya has chosen Kenneth Marende to compete for the position of National Assembly speaker with Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetangu’ula.

According to media reports, Azimio Secretary General Junet Mohamed made the announcement public, indicating that the decision was reached after extensive consultations with stakeholders.

Junet revealed that the coalition decided to field a tried-and-true candidate to compete with Kenya Kwanza’s Moses Wetangula. Junet explained the decision by stating that the Azimio coalition had kept their cards close to their chest in order to outwit their political opponents.

Mr. Marende was initially touted as a possible Senate speaker candidate, with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka mentioned as a possible National Assembly candidate.

“Azimio coalition has decided to front Marende as our candidate for the National Assembly speaker. We have decided to go for someone who has been tried and tested, someone who understands the operations of Parliament,” Junet told Nation. Africa.

“We are going to formally communicate this to all our members by Monday. All the coalition partners including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka are in agreement.”

Wiper will produce a candidate for National Assembly deputy speaker, while the Senate speaker candidate will be from the Coast or the pastoralist community, according to the agreed-upon lineup.

The Kenya Kwanza Alliance, led by President-elect William Ruto, has chosen Mr Wetang’ula for the National Assembly and Amason Kingi, the immediate former governor of Kilifi, for the Senate.
