William Ruto Sworn In As Kenya’s Fifth President

William Someoi Ruto has officially been sworn in as the 5th President of Kenya.

The oath of office was administered by Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi at Kasarani Stadium on an occasion presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome on Tuesday.

“I, William Samoei Ruto …. do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Kenya; that I will obey, preserve, protect and defend this Constitution of Kenya, as by law established, and all other laws of the Republic; and that I will protect and uphold the sovereignty, integrity and dignity of the people of Kenya,” he said.

He also pledged to “Do justice to all in accordance with this Constitution, as by law established, and the laws of Kenya, without fear, favour, affection or ill-will”.

First Lady Rachael Ruto was also by Ruto’s side.

In the presence of AG Kihara, Dr. Ruto then proceeded to sign the certificates of the oaths of office.

CJ Koome also signed the certificates and present them to President Ruto.

The new Head of State also received the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart award, highest accolade in the country.
