Governor Kihika Nominates County Executive Members

Nakuru Governor Susan Susan Kihika has unveiled a list of ten members of the County Executive Committee who will play key roles in her administration.

Kihika, the first female governor of Nakuru County, succeeded Lee Kinyanjui as the third Governor of the South Rift county.

The position drew 478 applications, with a select committee submitting 10 names of men and women who will assist the governor in carrying out her mandate.

Among those nominated are Dr Nelson Tanui Maara (Water and Environment), Dr Samuel Mwangi Mwaura (Health), Stephen Muiruri Kuria (Trade and Tourism), John Karanja Kihagi (Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development), Leonard Kipkoech Bor (Agriculture, Fisheries and Co-op era tubes), Roselyn Wanjiru Mungai, HSC (Public Service Management), Josephine Atieno Achi (Sports, Gender and Social services).

Zipporah Wambui will lead the Education, Youth, and ICT docket, Stephen Iribe Njogu will head the Finance and Economic Planning docket, and Michael Kamau Karanja will lead the Infrastructure docket.

The names now await vetting and approval by the county assembly of Nakuru.

On Wednesday, October 12, the governor delivered her first address to the County Assembly, urging MCAs to collaborate closely with her administration to improve service delivery.

As she highlighted her key agenda for the County, she challenged them to put aside their political affiliations and work for the people.
