Four Police Officers detained in connection with the abduction and subsequent murder of two Indians and their driver are expected to know their fate today.
The four were arrested and arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache at Kahawa law courts.
The prosecution intended to apply for 30 days detention order pending investigation.
However, the alleged suspects vehemently objected to the manner in which the Internal Affairs Unit of the police got involved in the matter stating that the case at hand is of grave magnitude hence the IAU fall out of Jurisdiction to charge them in any Court of Law.
The learned Magistrate prayed for two days to be able to go through the submissions by both the prosecution and the defense before arriving at a conclusive ruling.
Today, the court is expected to give directions today on whether the IAU of police erred in fact and Law by getting involved in the investigation and arrest of the police officers.
According to the defense, the IAU can only be involved in petty indiscipline matters of police within the police station.
The two Indians and the driver were abducted on July 24,2022 along Mombasa Road near Ole Sereni Hotel. Upon abduction, they were driven away in a vehicle that did not have registration number plate.
The Indians are believed to have been in Kenya as part of President William Ruto’s IT team ahead of the August 9, 2022 general elections.
