There is a need to incorporate technology in solving water shortage, a problem that has been in existence for years in the Ukambani region.
Mwala Mp Vincent Musyoka acknowledges that water shortage has been an issue over the years but the solution to it has been tackled with the wrong approach.
He says if technology could be used to pump water from the rivers to water tanks in residents’ homesteads then people will not need to trek long distances in pursuit of water.
In addition, he said there exists a huge gap in digital technology among the youths which lags them behind in the digital economy thereby stressing the need for early technology exposure to children.
He was speaking during the launch of a modern learning hub-EdTech Hub at Wamunyu Kenya Connect learning and Resource Centre in Machakos County.
The construction was made possible through the designated donation of Dr Isaac Minae’s family a victim of the fatal crash of the Ethiopian airline and other partners who echoed the need for early exposure to technology.
The facility’s pioneer and Executive Director under the umbrella of Kenya Connect.
James Musyoka said the tech hub will help break barriers to education in the rural community of Wamunyu.
The facility will serve more than eighteen thousand learners who comprise both pupils, teachers and the members of the public at large as the vessel will assist improve learning in rural areas and most especially public schools some of which have inadequate learning facilities.
