Govt Spokesman Cyrus Oguna Appointed Chief Of Staff In Siaya County

Cyrus Oguna, the government’s spokesman, is set to leave the national government to become Chief of Staff in Siaya County.

Governor James Orengo, who unveiled his technocrat-heavy cabinet, appointed Oguna, a retired military officer.

They include lawyer Velma Maumo, who was involved in Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s Supreme Court petition, and Benjamin Agina, a former veteran journalist who worked on the former Prime Minister’s campaign.

Agunda Ochanda will be in charge of Governance and Administration, Benedict Omollo of Finance and Economic Planning, Martin Onyango of Health, and Caroline Onyango of Water, Sanitation, Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources, according to the list released on Wednesday afternoon.

Others are George Nyin’giro – Roads, Public Works, Energy and Transport, Sylvester K’okoth- Agriculture, Irrigation, Food, Livestock and Fisheries, Edgar Otumba- Education, Youth Affairs, Gender and Social Services, Grace Agola- Trade, Enterprise and Industrial Development and Maurice Mcorege who will head the Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development docket.

Orengo’s advisors include Grace Ongile (Economics) and Political Advisors Fred Owuor and George Okanda.

They are slated to appear before the the County Assembly of Siaya for vetting and confirmation.
