One G-3 rifle has been found, and the culprit in the theft of lethal police firearms from Homa Bay has been captured.

Four police guns and more than 100 rounds of ammunition were lost in a daring attack on a police station in Homa Bay county two weeks ago, and the perpetrator has now been found.

Homabay detectives recovered one G-3 rifle loaded with 20 7.62mm bullets, and the Prime suspect Charles Nyumba Ongany, 27, was put into police custody.

After learning of the lethal weapons stockpile hidden there, investigators broke into his father’s home in Abuje village, Nyando Kisumu county, and excavated the complex for the weapons.

The suspect’s father, who is also suspected to be a member of the violent gang, narrowly evaded the police dragnet during the early morning raid, and a quest for his arrest is presently ongoing.

Under unclear circumstances, an unknown number of thieves burst into the station’s armoury on November 16 and took three G-3 riffles, one AK-47 assault rifle, and 110 rounds of ammunition.

The recovery of the firearm and the arrest of the suspect represents a significant breakthrough for the investigators because the thug will lead them to his accomplices and the seizure of the remaining firearms.
