A bus carrying passengers caught fire on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway on its way to Mombasa from Nairobi.
The vehicle was parked on the side of the road near a ditch as it was consumed by fire, according to a video shared by Sikika Road Safety on Friday, December 9.
The collision happened at 2:25 a.m. on Friday, December 9, in Mtito Andei, Makueni County.
According to reports, all passengers were safely evacuated before the fire spread.
“We tried to put off the fire with water but our efforts bore no fruits,” stated one of the passengers.
Following the unprecedented accident, residents in the area watched helplessly from a distance as the bus was reduced to ashes.
Notably, no injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
The cause of the fire was unknown. Some passengers, however, claimed it started at the front of the vehicle.
