Nick Salat Suspended As Secretary-General Of Kanu

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) has suspended its Secretary-General Nick Salat for allegedly violating the Party’s constitution.

In a notice issued on Thursday, December 15, KANU Chairperson Gideon Moi stated that the suspension was the result of a decision by the National Executive Council (NEC) following several complaints filed against Salat.

“This is to notify you that at the National Executive Committee meeting on December 15, several complaints on your conduct and violation of the party Constitution were placed before the members for discussion.

“You are hereby suspended forthwith from carrying out and or performing your duties as the party’s Secretary General pending the determination of the disciplinary,” the statement read in part.

Salat is accused of misconduct and violating the Party’s constitution.

His fate is now in the hands of the disciplinary committee, which will summon, hear the accused, and submit a report to KANU within 30 days.

Salat’s looming eviction from the party falls less than 24 hours after he called for fresh party elections to change the party leadership.

He argued that Kanu needed new ideologies if it was intentional about remaining relevant after the party’s poor performance in the August 9 General Election.
