Otieno Lewis, Fwaro Makokha Top 2022 KCPE Exam

    Otieno Lewis Omondi Glen and Fwaro Makokha Robinson are the top students in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.

    The two tied after scoring 431 marks out of the possible 500.

    Otieno and Makokha sat their KCPE exam in St Peter’s Mumias Boys Primary and Christ the King Academy in Bungoma and Kakamega counties respectively.

    According to his teacher, Makokha Robinson was a hardworking student and always topped internal as well as external exams.

    “We are happy to produce the best pupil in the country. He was very hardworking and has been leading in internal exams as well as those from surrounding schools,” said his teacher Amos Khayota.

    He added, “We knew he was good but to be honest we did not expect him to top the country. He has made us proud.”

    Speaking at Mtihani House in Nairobi on Wednesday, December 21 when he released the results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said this year’s candidates performed better than last year’s where leading candidate scored 428 marks.

    A total of 9,443 candidates scored 400 marks and above while 307,756 scored between 300 and 399 marks.

    Some 619,593 candidates scored between 200 and 299 marks while 296,336 candidates got between 100 and 199 marks.
