Six people were killed and numerous others were injured when a Kenyan and a Rwandan bus crashed head on on the Ntungamo-Kabale Highway in western Uganda, police said.
The tragedy happened on Thursday at Hakabira on top of Rwahi hill in Rwahi town council, Ntumgamo District.
According to witnesses, the driver of the Rwandan-registered Volcano bus changed lanes and collided with the Kenyan-registered Oxygen bus at 4 p.m.
The Volcano bus had arrived in Kampala and was on its way to Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, while the Oxygen bus was on its way to Nairobi from Kigali.
According to SSP Ibrahim Saiga, the Kigezi regional police commander, the morning fog may have hindered the drivers’ sight, resulting to the collision.
