On Saturday evening, three University of Nairobi students were killed when their boat capsized at the Mulokoba Waterfront in Budalangi, Busia county.Â
The three students, who were in their sixth, third, and first years at the university, were among seven others who were enjoying a fun boat ride.
Isaiah Mose, the Bunyala Sub-county police commander, confirmed the incident and stated that four others were rescued.
The bodies of the three, however, have yet to be recovered, with the search called off late Saturday night after darkness fell. The hunt will resume early Sunday morning.
This tragedy comes just a week after another boat accident on Mageta Island’s Sika beach, in which two blood brothers drowned.
