Man City’s Mendy Found Not Guilty On Six Counts Of Rape

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has on Friday, January 13, 2023 been cleared of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by a jury at Chester Crown Court.

However, the jury was unable to reach verdicts on one count of rape and one count of attempted rape, so Mendy will now face a second trial on those charges.

His co-accused, Louis Saha Matturie, was found not guilty by the jury of three counts of rape.

Matturie was also found not guilty of two counts of rape against the same woman in September 2022.

Both Mendy and Matturie denied all of the charges against them.

The jury, of seven men and four women, first went out to consider verdicts on December 5th, 2022 and Friday was the 14th day they had been out.
