The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has announced plans to ramp up the country’s anti-drug campaign.
NACADA Chairperson Rev. Stephen Kiptoem Mariori said in a statement that the authority will engage County Governments and other stakeholders to collaborate in finding solutions to the country’s drug abuse challenges.
“Having closely followed the President’s remarks in several recent public meetings and being aware of the growing concerns about the problem of alcohol and drug abuse, I regard this as a serious issue that requires a multifaceted approach from all key stakeholders if the war is to be won,” Dr. Mariori said.
“In accordance with this, we are immediately prioritizing deliberations with the Council of Governors, County Governors, and other stakeholders in order to comply with these instructions,” he added.
President Ruto’s new NACADA boss reiterated the authority’s commitment to working with National Government Administration Officers and other stakeholders to ensure the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act. 2010 is strictly enforced to control sub-standard, counterfeits and contrabands, and any other form of uncertified alcoholic drinks that endanger lives.
