DPP Moves To Close Rally Star Maxine Wahome Case

The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has not decided whether to charge Wahome in the death of Safari Rally driver Asad Khan.

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions is seeking to close the miscellaneous file against rally star Maxine Wahome.

The budding Safari rally champion is suspected to have assaulted her lover, inflicting serious injuries that resulted in his untimely death.

According to the Prosecution, the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has not decided whether to charge Wahome in the death of Safari Rally driver Asad Khan.

The Investigating Officer (IO) informed the court today that the investigation is complete and that the case is now before the DPP for a decision.

Maxine Wahome has never been charged with any criminal offence.

Dunstan Omari, Asad Khan’s family lawyer, opposed the move.

Omari said that the IO has not disclosed its recommendations, arguing that closing the miscellaneous application without charging anyone is a setup.

“The investigations officer has not disclosed the recommendations… if the DPP decides to charge the person what happens… this is the first case where we don’t have the directions,” Omari told the Court.

A ruling will be delivered on February 15, 2023.
