Governor Mwangaza Officiates Groundbreaking Ceremony For Mt Kenya Bongo

    Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza on Tuesday officiated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mt Kenya Bongo and Rhino Conservancy in Ntirimiti, Kibirichia ward.

    The Ceremony was graced by the Mt Kenya Community forest association.

    According to Mwangaza, over the next year, Meru will be home of 25 bongos been drought home from San Francisco.

    “Currently, Meru’s Bongo population had completely been eradicated due to hunting. With the re-introduction of Bongo, we will be the only home of bongos Globally,” she said.

    Meru is also home of Black rhino, and holds the only elephant hospital in the nation.

    Its the home of the Lewa Conservation and now the Meru Bongo and Black rhino conservation.

    “As an administration, I hope this will inspire more investors, conservationists and residents of Meru will come together against the negative global impacts of Climate change even as Meru plans to host the 3rd Mt Kenya Running championships on the 26th of February, 2023. Join us.”

    Governor Mwangaza was flanked by KFS chief Conservator, Mr. Julius Kamau, Deputy Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia, County commissioner Fred…, Buuri Mp Rindikiri, Area MCA Mutuma, MCA Caleb, MCA Makasi, MCA Kiambi, MCA Sophia Mwila, MCA Catherine, MCA Mutea, Hon Njuki, Hon Kaaba Muri, Hon Patrick, Hon Romano, and Hon Ken Mutwiri.
