Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner General Githii Mburu has resigned.
According to a statement by the Authority’s board Chairperson Anthony Mwaura, Mburu resigned to “pursue personal interests’.
The authority has appointed Advocate Rispah Simiyu to take over in an acting capacity effective February 23.
“Following the resignation, the board has appointed FCCA, CS Rispah Simiyu, Advocate EBS, to be the Acting Commissioner General KRA with effect from 23rd February, 2023 until the position is substantively and competitively filled,” Mwaura said.
Githii Mburu assumed the role at the Authority in July 2019 following the retirement of John Njiraini.
He was previously KRA’s chief of intelligence where he developed a formidable intelligence-gathering infrastructure to trap tax evaders.
